Geez. I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve written. But then again, with my summer, I guess I can. Lots of traveling and summer hijinks.

Okay, so I’m still plugging away on Novel #2, as yet untitled, though I know it will be a variation on its current title, which I’m not telling because I want to have it more firmly in place. My “revision” is really a rewrite, because there were many issues I needed to fix in this book. First, the main character still wasn’t there. So I worked on her. I liked her a lot better. So why wasn’t the book just flowing out of me like hot fudge sauce over a sundae? I hmmed and hmmed about this for some time. Then I re-read the first three pages and boom. There it was, right in front of me. How embarrassing not to have noticed it before. She was way too competent in the beginning of the book. She had nowhere to go! No wonder so many of the scenes felt forced and contrived.

This discovery made me giddy with excitement. Finally, a MAJOR breakthrough. I’ve rewritten a good chunk of the first part of the book but then we had two big parties to host that people bid on for our school auction and a two week vacation.

So now I’m back from our trip and will dive in on Monday morning while the kidlets are still asleep.
