I’m wondering if it’s possible for me to work on two novels at the same time. Not revising one and writing the first draft of another, but actually doing a draft of two different books simultaneously. I’ve been an opponent of this, thinking that I can’t inhabit two worlds at the same time, that I won’t be immersed and both books will suffer. I have one book that I’m 50pp into, but now I’m planning to start a brand new book for my publisher. My first thought was, “Well, of course I’ll stop working on the one to get to the other.” But then I wondered if maybe I could do both. I may give it a try. The worst that can happen is I find I can’t do it and I drop one of the projects.

It may very well be like trying to be two places at once. Look for the results of this momentous writing experiment in future entries.
